Peacock Feather Arrow Embroidery Pattern

I find something so magical about a peacock feather. I love them so much I even have one tattooed on my calf. I knew I wanted to draw one up for an embroidery. After hours of browsing images of other peacock embroideries and art it hit me. I wanted it to look like an arrow. Many sketches and a couple of drafts later I came up with this...

I must say I'm pleased with how this turned out. My husband suggested that I make the arrow head a heart shape. That would be super cute but I opted for a actual arrow look. I only mention this because you may prefer the heart variation. If so I say go for it!

For a long time I have been wanting to make a pair of legwarmers. I thought this pattern was a perfect match. To make these I unattached the arms of a sweater I no longer care for. I slid them over my calves inside out and pinned them on one side to fit. Then I surged them up.

This was my first time embroidering on knitting. I didn't use an embroidery hoop. Not sure if that was a wise choice but it seemed like a good idea at that time. The first one turned out a bit wonky and took much longer then expected to complete. The seconded one was smooth sailing. This probably why my fiber arts teacher always made us do a practice piece first. I'm the type of person that is always ready to go go go so practice pieces seem to just be in my way when I'm starting a new project. I'm kind of a reckless crafter like that.

Of course, please upload your project with this pattern. I would love to see them!
