Here's Leisl with her class of eight beginner knitters all concentrating on their newly learnt techniques. If you would like to learn the basics of knitting come along to our next class on October 12th.
Next we have Brianna with her class of attentive machine knitters. Our next machine knitting class concentrates on increasing and decreasing. We have a some spots available in all our upcoming machine knitting classes. If you are unable to make it to these dates we will be hosting this beginners course again along with some more advanced classes.
We have some new classes coming up too with even more on the way.
The following classes are taught by our newest teacher, the lovely Jules from Woollenflower. Those of you with a basic knowledge of knitting might find our 'Tips and Tricks' class beneficial. In this class we will cover a whole series of techniques to make your hand-knitted garments look beautiful, including working accurate swatches, picking up dropped stitches and fixing mistakes, choosing the right increases and decreases, picking up stitches neatly for a button band, joining a new ball and weaving in ends, 3-needle cast-off and more.
You've learnt the basics of knitting and you've mastered the techniques in our 'Tips and Tricks' class and now you need to put your knits together. Our 'Finishing Knits' class will help you to do just that. In this 3-hour session, we will cover: the essential skills for putting together your hand-knitted garment professionally, including short-row shoulders, seaming, easing the various pieces to fit, grafting, weaving in ends, blocking (when and how to do it), sewing on buttons and more.
In 'The Basics of Natural Dyeing' class we will cover: the essentials of dyeing with natural materials, including different methods to extracting colour and how to apply it to yarn and fabric, fibre preparation and mordanting, safety and more. We’ll explore the colour potential of the kitchen and medicine cupboards, the garden and surrounding landscape, as well as sourcing more exotic dyestuffs, and will create several dyebaths from seasonally available species. Participants will take away small samples of yarn and fabric dyed in the workshop.
Another class we have coming up is the 'Grainline Studio Moss Skirt' which I will be teaching. In this class you will learn the following: how to put together a print-at-home pattern, how to take your own measurements and choose the appropriate size, how to make alterations to your pattern, how to lay out your pattern and cut your fabric, how to sew your garment together and how to sew a fly front zip.
We have many more classes to come including sew-a-longs and knit-a-longs. To stay informed please do keep an eye on on our class list or better yet, follow us on weteachme.
