We're preparing for our silk painting workshop next week and have been looking for some inspiration. There are so many beautiful handpainted silk pieces out there it's quite overwhelming!
This beautiful scarf is handpainted by Asta Masiulyte. I love how the line drawings work together with the organic flower like colours.
This awesome piece is also by Asta Masiulyte and combines gutta resist with Shibori dyeing.
This modern abstract shawl is handpainted by klaradar. Grey and orange have always been a favourite combination of mine.
Silk painting isn't just for scarves and shawls though. A piece of hand painted silk can be made up into a garment such as this beautiful kimono style top by cmab.
I think this has to be my favourite! I do love flamingos don't you? This art cushion cover was hand painted by Handpaintedthreads.
Silk Painting
Taught by Rosalind Slade
Learn the delicate art of painting on silk. In this class you will be taught how to create different effects including water colour and star-bursts, then more advanced techniques such as outlines and shading. You will take home your beautiful hand painted silk squares ready for framing or hemming and the knowledge to continue painting at home.
A silk painting kit is included in the cost of the workshop so you can continue painting at home. The kit includes:
- A 60cm x 60cm frame
- 1x paint brush
- Gutta resist in an applicator bottle
- Protein heat fix dyes in red, yellow, blue & black
- 4 55cm x 55cm pieces of silk habutai
